Bakrid

Bakrid is a festival of sacrifice observed by Muslims commemorate the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim, who voluntarily killed his son at God’s command. The event is celebrated by sacrificing an animal (usually a goat), followed by prayers at the mosques, grand feasts and merry-making. Muslims wear new garments, visit each other’s homes and exchange good wishes. The greeting of Thakhir (Allahu Akbar) is heard all around as everyone asserts their belief that God is great.
